Hi from on board Pacific Sun - cloud is coming in but won't dampen the mood I suspect!! Haven't spotted the man in the safari suit as yet but will keep my eyes peeled!! Just waiting for safety drill to wind up and then onto sailaway!! Great to be back on a ship again - bit strange without the little people though!

Thanks for the well wishes here and on the roll call. Not sure if I will get to login in the morning.

It would not ordinarily be our first choice for a cruise, but it is the first ship to head to Newcastle to be based there - something we absolutely had to be a part of.

Sydney Ports schedule is showing everything will be ontime tomorrow, so we are looking forward to getting aboard nice and early. Both the Sun & Jewel are listed for 4pm departures. I hope we are fashionably late, as it would be great to see the Jewel head off under the bridge before we cast off the lines.

I wonder what happened with all the others that were going to sue. There was talk of a class action in the days/weeks after the cruise, although settling out of court generally keeps all parties out of the media.

I feel for her injuries, but wonder why she has long missed the boat on this. Having won the cruise only changes her ability to get a refund, and if there are grounds for medical compensation, she is as entitled to this as much as a full paying passenger.

If my lawyer felt that P&O was negligent in not following an earlier industry recommendation to secure items, I would be looking to be compensated too. As far as I am aware though, this was relative to things like poker machines that contributed to most of the more serious injuries. To me, a trolley is meant to roll and not be restrained into place on a ship, so her injuries may be as a result of an accident rather than any negligence.

Today, with the gale force winds at my place, I am watching the cam with interest as I hope the winds do not stir up the sea between Sydney & Newcastle too much.

Aww so I guess they'll be on leave for our cruise on the Sun on 29 Nov. Will be sorry to miss them. We were on Nick's very first cruise as a member of the activities staff, & he was understandablya bit reserved & nervous as he learned the ropes. Last Feb though he was full of energy & charm & sang a couple of evenings on the Lido Deck as well as in Smugglers.

I wanted you, Nic, Beck & Mikey all on the Dawn. I still love the Sun, there is a fantastic atmosphere on it, something I know you will keep alive, and as long as it stays in the fleet, I will still be cruising on her. Still my favourite, almost notched up 5 cruises on her already.
