At present, the queuing is exclusive to Portside.

Fishermans Island is not currently used as a turnaround facility, so except for a few stray embarking passengers, it is only being used as a terminal for visiting ships.

I thought they had ovecome much of the Portside queueing problems with their letter allocation - ie check in, get a boarding time, then leave the terminal knowing you still had an allocated slot in the boarding sequence without having to queue.

No it doesn't make much difference what time you get there, you line up for ages to drop off your bags, & then again to get your pass & no. up & down round & around the cattle run you go, really disorganized compared to say the OPT. Last time we were there we arrived at 11am & got on the ship at 2.40pm we were soooo sick of waiting. Opt took us all of 20mins. We get to do it again in July so will give it another chance.

Hi Bob,

World Club number is the Cunard Equivilent of Captain's Circle (past passenger number).

If it holds true as to how they do it in the UK, past cruisers ata certain level will get access to book these a day earlier - thus jump to the top of any pre-registration list.

I like that they are doing this as it gives us all an extra option with cruising as to doing the same ships all the time. I don't think I am that interested in doing a circle navigation of Australia though. Not yet anyway.

I also got a bit excited when i recieved the same email until I realised the prices quoted were for next year (which have been out for a while anyway) and not the 2012 Australian one.

I bet they do get a few calls though, clever marketing...???

Availability of pricing seems very strange for a cruise that will not be available for booking till July.

Cunard announced today that the Queen Mary 2 will embark on a 28-day circumnavigation of Australia in February 2012

The QM2 will call into eight Australian ports on the circumnavigation, including Sydney, Fremantle, Adelaide and the Whitsundays as well as maiden visits to Cairns (Yorkey�s Knob), Darwin, Melbourne and Brisbane. It will also stop in Bali.

Whats changed in Brisbane that they would come in there, when they said they wouldn't after the Queen Victoria came in. All the passengers had to get off at the grain terminal in the pouring rain. Poor things might get their feet wet again. But boy, was it amazing watching her come down the channel past Caloundra, i loved to see that again, lit up the sky like a city.

Returned yesterday from a 16 day cruise on the Costa Allegra departing Singapore to Vietnam, Hong Kong, Manila, Kota Kinabalu, Banga Seri Begawan and returning to Singapore. Some on-line reports had described the ship as a 'rust-bucket' with arrogant Italian officers and appalling food and I sailed with some concerns. They must have been on some other ship!

The cruise was a dream. A beautiful small cruise ship, wonderful crew, delicious menus, excellent facilities and first class entertainment. Activities were conducted in five languages and communication did add another element life on-board. Port visits & tours had been reported as outrageously expensive yet I heard not one mention of 'costs' from any fellow passenger and any Costa arranged tour we undertook were considered good value for money. Prices on-board are in Euros and may seem a little high by Australian standards but not excessively so.

The Costa Allegra is soon to be withdrawn from the Asian cruise circuit and will return to Europe to be replaced by a larger Costa vessel. Regardless, I would highly recommend Costa Cruises without reservation.

I wonder if this is part of the grand game of chess.

While they wont want to distract from the addition of a possible 2nd HAL ship (or could this be the additional Carnival Corp ship after some wires were crossed), I feel that this is a move to distract cruisers away from Radiance of the Seas and possibly Celebrity Century.

If it sells out in a day and is heavily booked by the Brits, it may have little effect anyway - but QM2 will certainly attract the media in comparison with other new additions coming for the first time that season.

If it sells out in record time, it would likely see a repeat from one of the Cunard ships in the following seasons too. I can't see QM2 doing it every year, as it breaks into the world cruise that is so successful for them.
